Renaissance Deluxe Back in Print!

DSCF0494Our black-powder D100 Renaissance Deluxe core rulebook is back in print, now in both paperback and hardback! Get it here, and you get the PDF free! And look out for more of our books coming back into print in the coming days…

News Update October 11 2014

Latest news from Cakebread & Walton is that the Pirates & Dragons Kickstarter was a great success! We not only funded the Pirates & Dragons Core Rulebook, but also an adventure sourcebook, Tales of Tortuga, and a bestiary, Creatures of the Dragon Isles. Thanks to everyone who backed us! For those who didn’t, the books will be available from our DriveThruRPG shop next year, in print and PDF, once all our Kickstarter backers have got their copies.

In other news, we’ve been working hard to update our back catalogue and get the files up at DriveThruRPG. The first two books – the Renaissance Deluxe Core Rulebook and Dark Streets - will be up in the next week or so, and will be available to order in hardback for the first time, as well as in paperback. All our print-on-demand books will come with a free PDF. We’ve taken the opportunity to correct some minor errors, and anyone who has the current PDF will get the updates automatically.

Also in the near future, we should have a print edition of our Dark Streets adventure Hellfireand a novel, The Morecambe Medium, which tells of the adventures of the bumbling detective Augustus Mulberry and his more competent assistant, Doctor Touchstone, in a Victorian murder mystery set in a seaside town in the north of England.

With our departure from Cubicle 7 Entertainment, the Cakebread & Walton forums on their site will be closing down on 16th October. There’s an active unofficial forum for our Renaissance system over at BRP Central, but we’re still looking for a new home for Airship Pirates discussions. Any suggestions welcome!

Tales of Tortuga!

We’ve passed the next stretch goal in the Pirates & Dragons Kickstarter, and Tales of Tortuga has been unlocked! Thanks to everyone who’s helped us to get there. It’s now available as an-add on.

Tales of Tortuga An 80-page black-and-white supplement containing a guide to the pirate port of Tortuga and two adventures set in the region. Paperback (black and white) + free PDF, £13.99 (includes free postage in UK and USA); PDF only, £6.99

The Kickstarter closes in 50 hours, so hurry, hurry!

Cakebread & Walton: Independence Day!

1st October was Independence Day at Cakebread & Walton. For the last few years, our books have been published by Cubicle 7 Entertainment, but from now on we’re going it alone. Our popular and award-winning role-playing games and settings, including Clockwork & Chivalry, Abney Park’s Airship Pirates, Renaissance Deluxe, Clockwork & Cthulhu and Dark Streets, are available as PDFs, and over the coming weeks, they’ll start to become available as print-on-demand products from DriveThruRPG. This means that some of our products which have been out of print for a while (such as the UK Games Expo Award-winning steampunk RPG, Abney Park’s Airship Pirates core rulebook) will be available again, and many of our volumes will be available in hardback for the first time.

We’ve reached an agreement with Captain Robert Brown of Abney Park to carry on producing the Airship Pirates line of games, and Cubicle 7 Entertainment have generously given us permission to continue using their Heresy Rules Engine in the game, so that it remains compatible with the Victoriana RPG. Underneath the Lamplight, the Neovictorian sourcebook for Airship Pirates, will be available in full colour for the first time, and there are further supplements in the pipeline.

Our next major release will be the Pirates & Dragons RPG core rulebook – visit a world of swashbuckling, magic and monsters using a fast-paced cinematic version of our Renaissance D100 rules. The Kickstarter for this game still has a few days to run and has more than doubled its target; there are some cool stretch goals almost in reach, and if you sign up for the Kickstarter, you’ll get free postage in the UK and US, so if you haven’t backed it yet, now’s the time! We have a whole range of products planned for this richly detailed fantasy world, so keep an eye out.

Other projects in the pipeline include a world-spanning campaign for Dark Streets, our grim 18th century Cthulhu Mythos setting, more short Renaissance adventures in our Flintlock & Steel series and possibly the next adventure in the Kingdom & Commonwealth campaign for Clockwork & Chivalry.

We’ve also got a comic Victorian murder mystery novel, The Morecambe Medium, featuring the investigating team of Augustus Mulberry and Doctor Touchstone, about to hit the virtual bookshelves!

Cakebread & Walton consists of game designers Peter Cakebread and Ken Walton, who have the privilege of working with a group of talented artists and writers from across the world. We’re a tiny independent company based in Lancaster, England and in cyberspace.

All our games will be available in the future from, and its sister site
