The PR campaign for the upcoming WoW expansion Dragonflight
continues at full speed after the announcement on April 19, 2022. Recently, the developers even tried out Twitter Spaces and hosted a developer roundtable for Dragonflight. There, fans could ask their questions to Game Director Ion Hazzikostas and Narrative Lead Steve Danuser. Also read these interesting stories 6WoW: Zoom out further than normal? Soon we'll find out what changes Blizzard is planning for the final raid of WoW: Season of Mastery."Just about everything account-wide in WoW".
The Twitter round was moderated by YouTuber Taliesin. The developers didn't really answer many questions, but we were able to take away one very important piece of information from the Twitter experiment: Ion Hazzikostas promised that Dragonflight will accountwide just about everything imaginable in the game
. Here's what he said in the original:"In Dragonflight, nearly everything will be account-wide-- linear narrative will be optional on a second character. Dragon Riding will be account-wide as well, while things aren't fully fleshed out yet, if your Dragon has learned extra talents or traits, we don't want to force you to re-earn those on your alts. We know that many people are going to have 70 alts the first week of the expansion, and the system should be the most alt-friendly one right from the beginning." - Ion Hazzikostas, Game Director of World of Warcraft (buy now ).
Loosely translated, this means: "In Dragonflight, almost everything will be account-wide - linear main stories will be optional on a second character. Dragon riding will also be account-wide, although things aren't fully fleshed out yet. If your dragon has learned additional talents or traits, we don't want to force you to relearn them on your twinks. We know a lot of people will have level-70 Twinks in the first week of the expansion, and the system should be Twink-friendly from the start."
Really ... everything?
What things are and aren't account-wide for our characters in WoW can change from patch to patch. With patch 9.2, some important things like the Legendary template unit and quasi Legendary resources were made account-wide, but still with some limitations. According to the developers, they want to hold on to these convenience features in the future and already want to show that with patch 9.2.5 of WoW
.What WoW players want most is to have reputation faction progress become account-wide. This could become a reality via the fame system in Dragonflight. The game director didn't specifically mention factions in the Twitter roundtable, but "nearly everything will be account-wide" sounds very promising. What would you most like to have account-wide in WoW? We're looking forward to your opinion in the comments.
