Cairne Bluthuf was the chieftain of the Bluthuf tribe and the founder of Thunderrock, the capital of the Tauren in WoW. The Tauren metropolis was very popular with Horde heroes in vanilla WoW because the city was greener and friendlier than Orgrimmar or Undercity. So it's no surprise to us that WoW veterans have some fond memories of Donnerfels. We've often reported on all kinds of Unreal Engine projects and shown you great WoW cities like Ironforge or even whole areas like Stranglethorn Vale, which have been fancy implemented with the modern graphics framework. But this new artist project will make the hearts of Tauren fans beat faster!
3D artist Aleksandr Timoshenko captured the simple and primal beauty of Thunderrock perfectly. He paid attention not only to the shapes of the tents, but also to small details such as the decoration of the houses or the painting of the totems that stand everywhere in the tent city. The view of the sharp-edged table mountains as well as the rolling plains of Mulgore behind them is also fabulous. We'll show you a few highlights here, and you can find the rest of the images in the artist's gallery on Artstation.
Aleksandr comments on his work thus:
"This is my project in the Warcraft universe. It's the village of Taurens created with UnrealEngine.
It was created with the help of megascans. The scene is using a fully dynamic lighting system.
Special thanks to Sergei Panin for the mentorship and feedback."
And in this gallery you can have a look at the tents and their inventory one by one. You can even see the rough fabrics covering the roofs of the tent city. The great hall and tower are also impressive, giving Donnerfels a monumental feel. How do you like the realistic version of Thunderrock in Unreal Engine? Would you like to see WoW (buy now 14,99 € ) with this graphic style?
