With a new raid comes new loot, of course. The Sanctum of Domination, the new raid coming into the game with patch 9.1, is no exception. What's unusual, though, is the amount of weapons that don't just have primary attributes and secondary stats, but are equipped with special effects. And it's not even just the kind of effects we've seen in the past, like "leaves a bleeding effect" or something like that. There is a two-handed weapon (Jaithy's Prison Blade) to capture from Kel'Thuzad that can devour other weapons to strengthen itself - at least that's what the somewhat cryptic tooltip says. Now dataminers have figured out what exactly this is all about, at least in broad strokes.
Jaithys the Prison Blade
"Use: Devour a lesser weapon and destroy it to feed Jaithy's power." reads the tooltip. And apparently this isn't figurative. If you use this effect, you can select a weapon in your inventory, whereupon it will indeed be completely destroyed, and in return you will receive an item called the essence of a consumed weapon. You can then use this item to upgrade Jaithy's.

- HarshTutelage: Approx. 1.5 Proc per minute - deals 646 physical damage and increases your Strength by 28 for three seconds.
- HarshTutelage: Approx. 2 procs per minute - deals 646 physical damage and increases your Strength by 28 for three seconds.
However, not all weapons can be used for upgrading. At least that's what several strings found in the game files tell us.
- SPELL_FAILED_CUSTOM_ERROR_611 - Jaithys hungers only for weapons. Only weapons will do.
- SPELL_FAILED_CUSTOM_ERROR_610 - That item is puny. Unworthy. Find another.
- SPELL_FAILED_CUSTOM_ERROR_609 - Jaithys is many things, but Jaithys is not a cannibal.
So besides the fact that you can only give the Zweihänder weapons to feed on, they also have to be "worthy". What exactly that means remains unclear. But it can be assumed that they have to be weapons from Season Two, and also that inferior green, or blue weapons are excluded. And of course, you can't feed Jaithys to other Jaithys.
It also remains unclear whether the different ranks of the proc depend on the amount of weapons fed, or whether they depend on the quality of the victim weapons.
What is clear, however, is that the secondary stats on the weapon will become less as you apply or upgrade the proc. While the weapon should still get stronger, the strengthening is toned down a bit, which is probably necessary due to balancing. Otherwise, the weapon would be too weak in its base form and way too strong with high proc.
What do you think of such weapons? Are you a fan of more complex systems or do you prefer classic +X stats items?Support buffed - it only takes a minute. Thank you!
