The main content of patch 9.1 is, besides the raid Sanctum of Domination and the mega dungeon Tazavesh, the new quest area Korthia, which will be part of the Maw in the future. In the following, we will show you how to get to Korthia, why the place is so important, what tasks there are to do there, and what else you need to know about Korthia and its inhabitants, treasures, etc.

The way to Korthia
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (2) Source: buffed This area is located in the southeast of the Maw. Here, the Dungeon Master has bound a new landmass to the Endgame Zone with chains. Before you can even go there, however, or for the magical barrier to Korthia in the southeast of the Maw to fall, you must continue playing the main Shadowlands campaign, which starts in Oribos. The theme of patch 9.1 is clearly defined: The fight against the Dungeon Master. Already with the first major patch, we bring the fight to the chief villain of Shadowlands and charge into the Maw with all pacts to take the fight to the Dungeon Master.
Korthia quest line - Requirements and ways to skip them
Introductory quests in 9.1 - Eliminate the Eye of the Dungeon Master, unlock flies
You must first complete a long questline that takes you first to the Arden Forest, to Odyn, and then back to the Maw. Along the way, you'll learn how to fly in the Shadowlands, get rid of the Dungeon Master's Eye, which will never bother you again in the Maw, and at the very end of this quest line, you'll get the ability to ride all kinds of mounts in the Maw. Flying in the Maw will still not be possible, though. Before exploring Korthia, you should first learn about the Pact Attacks in the Maw.
The Pact Attacks
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (6)
Source: buffed
While the main content of 9.1 consists of the new Korthia zone, the rest of the Maw is also seeing some changes. In keeping with the theme of the patch, the Pacts are moving into the Maw to fight the Dungeon Master's minions. Twice a week, the four pacts take turns. During these pact attacks, for example, the Kyrians defend the area outside Ve'nari's Refuge, and a few days later the armies of Maldraxxus move into the Maw and attack the Doom Fortress continuously for a while. By looking at the world map, you can see which pact is currently active and how long the pact attack will last.
Pact attacks are something like the Legion attacks or the faction attacks in BfA. With the respective NPCs of the current attack you have the possibility to accept four to five quests. Once you've completed these, you'll have to use the pact to defeat a mini-boss at the end, and you'll collect a large chunk of reputation for the new Korthia faction Death's Advance, as well as a reward box for the pact in question. In the box you'll find 200 Stygia, 50 Soul Embers (for Legendary upgrades), a Korthium Crystal (new crafting resource), a Medium, and about 500 Cataloged Research (resource for upgrading Maw-touched items). If you're lucky, you'll also pull one of the new Pact Mounts or a pet from the crate.

Of course, our heroes can't ignore the appearance of a new landmass in the Maw. Our Maw ally Ve'nari is eager to gather information about Korthia. But what is our purpose there anyway, and what does the dungeon master want here? The other midwayers and their fate scribes also want to get to the bottom of the mysteries. Again and again there are allusions to ancient relics, hidden treasures and powerful artifacts. At almost every corner there is some object whose use you do not yet understand, but in any case must not fall into the wrong hands. In the midst of it all are the demons of the Nathrezim, who are always trying to deceive us with their shape-shifting and elicit our knowledge of Korthia.
WoW Lore: All hell breaks loose in the afterlife! Patch 9.1: Chains of Domination - the Story
The southern island of Korthia bears the name Archive of Secrets, where we find the fourth Pact Seal of Primus, or Maldraxxus, which he has been hiding there all this time from everyone - even his allies ... only to have it fall directly into our hands. only to play it right into the dungeon master's hands. Now Zovaal possesses four of the five seals. The last of which he intends to snatch from the Judge - as it currently stands - in the final battle in the Sanctum of Domination. With the five seals he apparently tries to banish the magic that binds him to the Maw.
THE DAILY QUESTS
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (11) Source: buffed Each day, five quests await you in the Keepers of Korthia Sanctuary. Simple defeat X enemies, explore Y points, or collect Z items will grant you either Reputation in Death's Advance, Anima, Catalogued Research, a Maw-Touched item, or a Medium upon completion. The weekly quest "Shaping Destiny" grants you a lot of reputation, a Maw Touched item level 200 token, 500 Anima, one Fame level, and ten Stygian Embers.
The Maw World Boss Mor'geth
With the rework of the Maw, a new world boss will also be thrown into the Maw. As of the current state of the test server, Mor'geth's whereabouts are not yet known. In the first weeks of patch 9.1, he should be of interest to you raiders. That's because in addition to a Medium and a Shard of Domination, he drops a few items with item level 233.
For this Weekly, you simply need to complete activities in the Maw to fill the bar for this quest. If you're active in the Maw for three to four days and complete the two Pact attacks per week, you've pretty much done this Weekly and don't have to chase daily quests every day. The quest givers of the pacts always alternate and a so-called emissary like Keal'thas or Mikanikos comes to the outpost every day. If you don't have time for all the dailies, prioritize these emissary quests over all other tasks. This is because in order to advance in the main campaign of Patch 9.1, you will need to complete an achievement that requires you to complete the four Emissary Quests
FACTIONS AND IMPORTANT NPCS
Death's Advance
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (10) Source: buffed Death's Charge is the new reputation faction in Korthia. Instead of world quests, you will improve your reputation with this faction by completing events in the Maw and the daily quests of Korthia. This includes the Wrath of the Dungeon Master event, which becomes more interesting again. A lot of reputation comes from the Pact Attacks, which happen twice a week and grant 800 reputation each - you get the idea, Pact Attacks are especially rewarding in patch 9.1.
Death's Charge faction: Get these rewards
Ores and Plants
There are no new ores or plants on Korthia. You can continue to collect the usual items (and now even with the flight mount).
In the new Maw Zone, as mentioned above, you will receive a weekly quest that will fill up a bar with various activities and grant you 1,200 reputation points at the end. The bar fills up for completing pact attacks, finding treasure, defeating rare mobs on Korthia, and a small amount of Kothia dailies. Daily quests grant 75 reputation each, group quests 125.
Bonesmith Heimir
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (15)
Source: buffed
A merchant at least as important as the reputation merchant Duchess Mynx is Bonesmith Heimir (coordinates 63/25). In addition to daily quests, she has the new Shards of Domination and the Soul Ash Packs up her sleeve, among other things. The packaged Soul Ash, which costs 300 Soul Ash, allows you to send 250 of the Torghast resource to one of your characters. Shards of Domination, as mentioned, are special gems that can only be used in sockets of domination. The gems have powerful effects for tanks, healers, and DpS playstyles and are divided into Blood, Frost, as well as Unholy shards. Wearing three shards of the same type unlocks a bonus that is active in Maw, Torghast, and the Sanctum of Domination raid. Otherwise, the shard effects will only work in said zones.
Shards of Domination - These are the special gems of Patch 9.1
To purchase, you will need other shards, the origin of which is currently unknown, and five Stygian Embers each. The embers are available through the weekly quest from Korthia and from the higher levels of Torghast. For a good 22 gold Heimir offers you the item Soulfire Chisel, which will become a permanent part of your inventory. You can use it to remove a Shard of Domination from the designated items without losing the Shard. The shard goes back into your inventory and the chisel can be reused an infinite number of times. We're still not sure about the price of the last item. For a whopping 1,000 Stygian Embers, you can add an extra socket to your neckpiece, helmet, bracers and rings via the Alloy Bending Facetiser. This requires a lot of Torghast runs or completing the weekly Korthia quest ten times.
Korthian Equipment
Patch 9.1 introduces a new armor type. This is called Korthian gear. Maw-touched gear is any item you obtain via the weekly Korthia quest, Pact Attacks, the Wrath of the Dungeon Master event, daily quests on Korthia, and from the new armor tokens from the Death's Advance reputation merchant. You can upgrade these item level 200 items up to six times to item level 233 from the usual upgrade NPCs in your Pact Sanctum, the PvP NPC in Oribos, or Kah-Vez (Korthia Base).
Korthian Gear - The Stygia Catch-Up Gear of Korthia
For comparison, LFR gear from the new raid has item levels 213 and 220 respectively from the last two bosses in the raid. So, Maw-Touched Revenge will be interesting for many players. However, instead of Valor Points, you'll need a brand new resource called Catalogued Research to upgrade.
Upgrading Korthia Armor: The Doom Scribe
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (5) Source: buffed Archivist Roh-Suir is one of the most interesting NPCs of Patch 9.1 - at least if you are interested in the Endgame. This Servant Archivist investigates the mysteries of Korthia and brings the games of the Nathrezim to your attention. Your first task on Korthia will be to unlock him via a long quest line so that he'll eventually be available as an NPC in your outpost. Roh-Suir is basically his own faction called "The Archivist Codex." Unlike the usual factions, you don't increase your reputation via quests, and the reputation structure is different as well.
Reputation Guide - The Archivist Codex and Catalogued Research
Instead of going from Friendly to Benevolent and so on, you climb from research level one to six. The Archivist wants you to bring him Relics, which he will then convert into Catalogued Research. With Catalogued Research, you can upgrade your Maw-touched items with his fellow Archivist, Kah-Vez. Each reputation level unlocks additional item levels. At level six, as mentioned above, you can upgrade Maw-Touched Items to item level 233. This is how much Catalogued Research you can get from various activities in the Maw
:- Normal enemies and treasure chests: 3-20-
Rare enemies: 50-300-
Special treasure chests: 20-150-

theoretically be obtained from any type of mob, but not every enemy will have Relics unless it is a RareMob. However, when you reach level 2 in the Archivist Codex, you can buy an item called Investigation Report: All-Seeing Crystal, which allows you to see which mobs are carrying relics. So the more diligent you are each day, the faster you will rise in the level system. This takes some time, but is well worth the effort.
At level 3, you will have access to Korthia's teleportation system. These are the grey letters that give you access to the Archive of Secrets and the Chamber of Knowledge (underground zones that would otherwise be inaccessible). Later levels unlock bonuses for more reputation and anima via world quests, more Catalogued Research and Stygia via Maw activities, and the ability to find previously inaccessible Korthian treasures. At the final research level, the Archivist will offer you the new Media upgrades, which can be upgraded to item level 252 in patch 9.1. Oh, and mounts, a Domination item, and a new Tabard are also available.
Ve'nari's role in patch 9.1
Media upgrades are now available from Roh-Suir, while Heimir offers the additional sockets. Both upgrades are no longer available from Ve'nari, and existing media and socket items can only be used on Season 1 items. For players who have already been romping in the Maw prior to patch 9.1, this means the midwife will no longer play a role. She will continue to offer quests for Stygia and, of course, have all the Torghast upgrades at the ready. Stragglers (or Maw muffers) will have their lives made easier by Ve'nari's quest giving bonus reputation with her faction, reputation for Death's Advance is not offered by the Midwife via her quests, however, for the Korthia Weekly.

The Cracks of Korthia
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (3) Source: buffed
Another interesting item is available at reputation level 4 of the Archivist Codex. The Repaired Crack Key gives you access to the Crack Portals of Korthia, where you can stay for 15 minutes. The cracks will teleport you to a small room that visually matches the archives under Korthia. The dark rifts can be found at coordinates 43/47 and 41/42 (in the cave). There is usually a Rare mob waiting for you here, which is designed for a 5-player party. Use the time after defeating the mob to explore the small vault. Most of the time you will find a normal quest for the Archivist Codex and/or a treasure there. Some of these treasures require a Korthian Archivist's Key, which you can buy from Roh-Suir at rank 2 or higher in the Archivist's Codex.Search for relics with your Gromit
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (1) Source: buffed
While you earn credit with the Archivist Codex by turning in relic fragments, Roh-Suir keeps giving you missions to assemble relics. The Missing Pieces quest asks you to assemble a relic set consisting of three to five relics scattered around Korthia. For the "Recovering the Relics" meta achievement, you must assemble five relic sets. You can only find the individual pieces with the help of your Gromit. Starting at rank 1 on the Archivist Codex, you will receive a Trained Gromit Carrying Basket. This container has 20 charges and will summon the gromit for an hour, acting as your relic hound. When you are near a relic, he will run straight to the spot and mark it with a cone of light. Below you can see the relic sets and their coordinates:- First relic set: 27/56, 45/56, 62/56, 40/41 and 54/41-
Second relic set: 43/57, 43/76, 41/43 and 33/41-
Third relic set: 39/52 (Chamber of Knowledge), 39/52 (also (Chamber of Knowledge), 45/35 (Chamber of Wisdom) and 45/35-
Fourth relic set: 60/34, 28/54, 52/52, and 51/20. All relic sets can only be accessed through Dark Rifts.
Fifth Relic Set: 39/42, 24/56, and 18.38.
The Treasures of Korthia
Thereare ten treasures in total (see link below). Some of them are just standing around and can be opened easily, for others your character has to prove some acrobatics or even find some keys that are distributed nearby. The rewards are always the same: relic fragments, anima and grey junk for sale.
Patch 9.1 - All treasures of Korthia at a glance
The Shrines of Korthia
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (16) Source: buffed
Roh-Suir will sell you the item "Investigation Report: Ancient Shrines" at research level 5. With this item, you can activate shrines that are located at the coordinates 34/50 and 39/42. We don't know what this is about at this point in the test realm, as no one has reached the penultimate research level yet. The tooltip says that this will allow you to uncover additional relic treasures - so more Catalogued ResearchThe Rare Mobs of Korthia
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (7) Source: buffed To compensate for the monotonous daily quests, the developers have come up with something more for the Rare mobs. Almost every one of the 28 new Rare mobs must either be summoned by interacting with the environment or offer a more exciting fight than the standard Rares you've seen in the Maw. For example, remember the midwife Ve'rayn who keeps asking you where Ve'nari is? At coordinates 49.18/28.79, you can summon Ve'rayn as a neutral enemy and answer her questions about Ve'nari. If you keep dodging the questions, she will become active as a rare mob and you can defeat her. For this, Ve'nari is very grateful and rewards you with 1,000 Stygia.
Patch 9.1: All rare enemies of Korthia at a glance
Rare mobs are not simply scattered around the map, however, but also appear at regular intervals at various positions of Korthia. In the chat, you will then be told in orange lettering that, for example, "A powerful Mawbound opens a portal to Korthia". These special rare enemies are usually marked with a star on the map.
THE META SUCCESS FOR KORTHIA - HOW TO GET THE CHIC "HAND-MOUNT" SALARANGOR
Even success mongers should find the meta success of Korthia palatable. That's because the fancy "hand mounts" do quite a bit and can even play scissors, rock paper with other hand mounts. There are four of these running hands in total with patch 9.1, but the black version Bangle of Salarangor via the Korthia meta achievement is the easiest to obtain and only requires a little time. For the other hand mounts, you'll need to solve a complicated puzzle on Korthia, complete the raid achievements for Sanctum of Domination, or have good luck with the Smiter of Torghast event (new Wrath of the Jailer event). There are a total of eight achievements to complete:

Chains of Domination: Complete the storyline around Korthia. You earn this achievement along the way and don't need to pay attention to anything in particular. - Minions of Icy Darkness: Defeat the 15 different bosses from the Tormentor of Torghast event. - Explore Korthia: Simply uncover all the dark spots on the map - do this on the side.
- The Archivist Codex: Reach the highest rank in the new faction of the Archivist Codex.
- Conquer Korthia: You must defeat all 28 of Korthia's Rare mobs for this achievement.
- Death's Advance: Achieve an Honorable reputation in the Thrust of Death.
- Treasures of Korthia: Find all of the Treasures of Korthia-
On the Offensive: Complete various side quests in the Pact Attacks.
- Recovering the Relics: You will need to assemble the various relic sets we described in "On a Relic Quest with your Gromit".
Desmotaeron - the realm of Helya
WoW: Quests, Rares, Treasures - Everything you need to know about the new quest zone Korthia (12)
Source: buffed
In the Maw, you can not only explore the revised zones of Pact Attacks and Korthia. In the north of the Beast Maze, a zone has also been reworked. In the introductory quest to the new Maw, and later during the main campaign, you will explore Desmotaeron with Thrall and Draka. This zone is much more dangerous than the rest of the Maw, as you will face many elite enemies. However, with the skillful use of your grappling hook, you can avoid them as much as possible.
Patch 9.1: Preview of Desmotaeron - the reworked zone in the Maw
Desmotaeron doesn't play much of a role in your daily Maw visits, but it's the only zone in the Maw that has a world quest (500 anima for an elite quest). Aside from the story quests that reacquaint you with Helya, there isn't much to do in Desmotaeron. Only two rare mobs and two treasures are interesting there for the meta achievements. Raiders will be drawn here more often, though. The entrance to the new Sanctum of Domination raid is located at the top of the zone at coordinates 64/19.
