When patch 9.1 comes to the live servers of WoW Shadowlands, the collecting and farming will start again. Because our heroes want not only new equipment, but also improve the existing. In practice, we collect new resources to upgrade our Legendarys two more levels and thus up to item level 260. But that alone is not enough. We also need the matching base item again, which continues to be created by the crafters. However, they won't get any more recipes with which they can produce rank five and six instead of rank one to four, but the whole thing will work via a new resource: the Rudiment of Origins.
New resource - Rudiment of Origins
Instead of additional ranks, you will still only be able to craft items up to rank four. However, you will be able to use optional reagents. Crafters are already familiar with these from the normal items, where you increase the item level with the mark of the craftsman.
For legendary base items, you may now use the Rudiment of Origins instead of a Mark of the Craftsman. This increases the rank of the item by two levels. The former Rank 4 item will now be a Rank 6 item. You can also use the rudiment on lower ranked items, which will also be upgraded two levels. Rank one becomes three, two becomes four, and so on.
Self is the craftsman ... and farmer
There is only one way to get the Soulbound Rudiment of Origins: you have to craft it yourself. You can get the recipe from a series of quests involving the Runecutter. However, in addition to the materials typical for the respective profession, you will also need a new resource: the Korthian Crystal (or Korthium or Progenic Fragment - the name changed from time to time in the beta).
This, in turn, is only obtained by the craftsmen (at least as things stand) through activities in Korthia. Both the completion of a pact attack, as well as the weekly quest, and some daily quests reward with the resource. Currently, however, you only need one crystal for a Rudiment of Origins. Whether it will stay that way is unclear. Because even this amount changed several times for some professions.
