This past weekend (5/28 to 5/30), the Mythic-Plus tournament The Great Push took place, where teams had 15 hours over 3 days to complete the highest keystones in that time. Their keystones started as low as level 24, and the winner of this format was the team with the highest score across all dungeons.
Of course, the MDI veterans from Echo (formerly Method) were at the start. They already managed to be the first group ever to complete a +30 keystone in time on the live server - and they did it so fast that it was enough for "+2". It was the same dungeon (Plaguefall) that won them the entire tournament, as they were the only team to complete the dungeon to +28.
However, this would not have been possible without clever exploitation of the game's mechanics and a bug. The Mob Manipulated Plague Drill allows groups to blow up trashpacks by exploding them. Echo exploited this mechanic through a previously unknown misdirection bug.
Misdirection briefly redirects the fighter's threat to make it easier for the tank. Canceling the effect via Cancelaura macro or simply clicking away from the buff bar keeps the threat transfer between the fighter and its target permanently active. This allowed Echo, as the only team with a hunter, to always send the plague drills specifically at the tank and reset the timer for its explosion effect again and again by killing it because the mob was only in combat with the hunter, not the rest of the party.
This triggered another bug that caused the plague drill to snap to Tank. "Snapping" usually only occurs when the aggro holder moves to a higher level. Mobs then teleport (or "snap") to the target immediately instead of running the normal path.
Hunter Fragnance (right) serves up Plague Drills in the dungeon to Tank Naowh (left) as requested, who teleports directly to the end boss and does a lot of damage.
